Barely 72 hours after the National Working Committee NWC and Caucus of All Progressive Congress APC have proposed to extend the tenure of all elected chairmen at both Federal, State , Local government and wards, a parallel Exco in Kogi said that it has sacked Haddy Ametuo led exco.
The Ametuo led executives were elected through congresses in 2013 shortly after the merger of stakeholders and have not in good book of the government since it came on board in 2016.
The Acting state Chairman of the party, Alhaji Ibrahim Ahovi announced the expulsion of Ametuo and others during a press conference in Lokoja on Friday.
Ahovi, who is leading a factional leader of the party loyal to Gov. Yahaya Bello said that the expulsion was with immediate effect.
He said that the action became necessary following Ametuo’s failure to appeal the decision of the North Central Zonal Executive of the party which had earlier pronounced him guilty of anti-party activities and recommended his expulsion to the national body.
He explained that Ametuo led executive failed to appealed the decision within 14 days as stipulated by the constitution of the party, saying that the failure to abide by the provision meant consent.
Ahovi said that the party will not hesitate to get Ametuo arrested and charged with impersonation should he fail to stop parading himself as the state Chairman of the party.
The factional Chairman thereafter inaugurated other new state executive members of the party to replace those expelled. Ahovi, was until now a state Vice Chairman of the party.
He expressed the support for the one year extension granted the national working committee and other organs of the party , saying that the decision would enable the party to become stronger and approach the 2019 elections with members re determination.
Ahovi also condemned the recent formation of a body, Save Kogi Group, saying that members of the group were only out to cause disaffection, disunity, hatred among the people of the state.
He explained that the state was right now in safer hands with Bello as governor, urging to come home and join hands with the state government to build a virile and economic buoyant state.
Ahovi reiterated the support of the state working committee of the party to President Muhammadu Buhari , saying that there was no vacancy at the Aso Rock Villa and Luggard House in Lokoja as far as 2019 elections are concerned.
Reacting to the purported expulsion from APC, Alhaji Haddy Ametuo said that Avohi. lacks constitution power to suspend the State exco.
He pointed out that the factional leader and his co- horts are not recognized by law, adding that they ate ghost.
Ametuo added that the action is fraudulent and can not stand the test of time.
