As part of ongoing donation to the flood victims across the country, Chevron/NNPC Joint Venture has donated relief materials worth a sum of N50 million the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to assist flood victims nationwide.
The Global Memorandum of Understanding (GMOU) coordinator, Eastern operations of Chevron, Tom Akagboso disclosed this yesterday at Government House, Port Harcourt, while handing over some relief materials donated by Chevron to NEMA.
Akagboso who led the Chevron delegation said the gesture was in line with the company’s policy of sustainable community development.
He noted that the assorted relief materials, such as bags of rice, beverages, vegetable and palm oils, garri among others was to ameliorate the plight of the flood victims across the country especially those of Rivers State.
Responding after the donation of the relief materials, the Rivers State Deputy Governor Engr. Tele Ikuru who is also the State chairman of flood victims committee commended Chevron over the gesture and called on other multinational organizations to donate generously to assist the flood victims.
He said:” it is commendable and worthy of emulation, the items will be equitably distributed to the victims and we need more from other multinational companies operation in the state.”
