Scare as Aero flight diverts from Calabar to Uyo

Tension gripped passengers on an Aero Contractors flight from Lagos-Calabar on Wednesday, after it was forced to divert from its destination to nearby Uyo Airport in Akwa Ibom State.
The plane was on a scheduled flight when it suddenly had to change route.
This created much apprehension onboard and among relatives of the passengers waiting at the Margaret Ekpo International Airport, Calabar.
However, the aircraft was able to land successfully at Uyo airport.
Contacted for comments, an official of the airline who did not want to be named said the diversion was caused by bad weather over Calabar, which he said prevented the plane from landing.
Also speaking along the same line, the spokesman for the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, Sam Adurogboye, said it was caused by bad weather.
He, however, assured that the situation had been adequately taken care of.
The diversion came three days after a Dana Air MD83 aircraft on a scheduled flight from Abuja to Lagos crashed into some buildings at Iju Ishaga area of Lagos, killing over 153 passengers and crew and about 37 persons on the ground.
