The Chairman, Victim Support Fund, General Theophilous Danjuma has disclosed that the federal government would adopt and unveil a plan for use of all stakeholders in the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the crisis ridden North East.
General Danjuma gave the hint in Abuja on Tuesday at a pre-conference meeting with 19 international development partners and agencies preparatory to holding a national conference on the North East in December.
This is coming a day after the BringBackOurGirls (BBOG) advocacy group challenged the Fund to account for money meant for the rehabilitation of victims of terrorists attacks.
The group wondered what the Fund has been doing with all the moneys realized from the donations organized by the federal government under former President Goodluck Jonathan administration.
He noted that the meeting was also aimed at sensitizing the international development partners both on the forthcoming conference and in the development plan.
According to him, “the Presidential Committee on North East Initiative (PCNI) is working with all the Presidential initiatives to convene a conference aimed at developing a comprehensive, integrated, and concerted Plan for the development, reconstruction of the North East region, the resettlement and rehabilitation of the victims of terrorism”
” The plan will help us to optimize resource utilization, enhance monitoring and accountability for impact for sustainable development. The Conference is scheduled for December 7, 2015 in Abuja and will be headlined by the President of the Federal republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari” Danjuma added.
It would be recalled that president Muhammadu Buhari recently set up PCNI with the aim of coordinating and harmonizing harmonizing all initiatives for delivering humanitarian development agenda in the north-east.
The committee would also coordinate the activities of. Victims Support Fund (VSF), Presidential Initiative on North-east (PINE), and Safe School Initiative (SSI) among others.
