Female lecturer kidnapped in Rivers

Gunmen have abducted a female lecturer in the Department of Computer Science at the Kenule Sara-Wiwa Polytechnic, Leeyira Sinee, in Bori, Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The Chairman of Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) at the institution, Ferry Gberegbe, who confirmed the development to newsmen, said the young lady was kidnapped on her way to church.
He appealed to the abductors to immediately release the victim unconditionally, as she had not caused harm to any person.
“The young lady was accosted this morning (yesterday), by men of the underworld, while going to Church. We are yet, to get calls from the kidnappers. She has not be released. We are appealing to kidnappers to release her unconditionally”, he appealed.
The Chairman of ASUP also begged the State government and Commissioner of Police to beef up security around Bori and its environs.
“As a result of this, we are calling on the governor of the State to do something, because the issue of kidnapping in Bori is becoming unbearable.
“We are calling on him (Governor Nyesom Wike) to do everything possible to restore peace in Bori, which is the traditional headquarters of Bori.
“All we are saying is relevant security agencies should swing into action to bring about her safe release. She has not done harm to anybody”, the ASUP chairman appealed.
The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Omoni Nnamdi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), could not be reached to confirm the abduction at the time of filing the report, as a text message sent to him for confirmation, was not replied.
