By Akin Akande, Abuja
Minister of Federal Capital Territory Senator Bala Mohammed has condemned last Saturday’s attack of the convoy of the Emir of Kano, His Royal Highness, Ado Bayero describing it as an ungodly and barbaric act.
He said it was the height of wickedness for anybody to attack the royal father who he described as an epitome of peace, harmony and tolerance in Nigeria.
Speaking on Monday while declaring open the meeting of the FCT Executive Committee, the Minister said it was abominable for any person or group to attack a highly respected royal father and national icon like the Emir of Kano.
He described the Emir as a towering symbol of Nigeria’s rich cultural and religious heritage stressing that whoever plotted or carried out the attack on the amiable traditional ruler must be an enemy of the Nigerian people.
Senator Mohammed further described the Emir as a nationalist with admirers spreading across the length and breadth of the country.
He stated that the well wishes of the vast majority of Nigerians who adore the popular Emir would see him through the agony adding that his usual fatherly advices were highly valuable for the government, the traditional and cultural institutions at all levels of our national polity.
This was as he also called on the security agencies to do their best in ensuring that the perpetrators of the attack were apprehended and punished adequately according to the provisions of all relevant laws of the country.
