As parts of efforts to implement its transportation policy, the FCT Administration (FCTA) is set to commence the implementation of the feeder routes operation for mini buses come January 14, 2013.
The Secretary, FCT Transport Secretariat, Engineer Jonathan Ivoke, who addressed a press conference on Thursday, said henceforth mini buses will only operate on specified feeder routes within the FCT.
The feeder routes include Mombassa-Michael Okpara-Olusegun Obasanjo-MKO Abiola-Area One; Area One-Gudu-Apo Mechanic Village; Area One-Cement Mrket-Apo Mechanical Village, and Jabi-Mbora-Kaura-Gudu Market.
Other routes include Jabi-Mbora-Sun City-Apo Mechanic Village, Jabi-Mbora-Lugbe, Gwarinpa-Life Camp entrance-Ist Gate, Bwari Town-Dtse Alhaji-Expresway (ONEX), Kubwa 2nd Gate -1st Gate, and Mpape-M/Mohd Expressway junction.
Engineer Ivoke said the mini buses would not be allowed to operate in high capacity bus routes which include Wuse Market-Nyanya, Area -Jabi, Gudu Market-Federal Secretariat, among others.
He said no unlicensed taxi will henceforth be allowed to operate within the city while the secretariat will enforce the usage of the 6 pedestrian bridges across the city as soon as their construction is completed.
The secretary added that Keke NaAPEP operation would be restricted to Gwarinpa Life Camp and Kado Estates including all large settlements and estates.
