This year’s annual European Film Festival is to begins in Abuja on May 10 and will be showcasing across five Nigerian cities,recent, crowd-pulling films by some of the best producers in European Union Member States, Switzerland and Serbia.
Apart from Abuja, the Film Festival which is in its fifth edition, would pass through Jos, Kaduna, Lagos and Port Harcourt before rounding-off on 24 June.
Movies speak a universal language, as they capture the defining features of a shared humanity and thus can improve mutual understanding and serve as bridges between the two continents.
The event offers Nigerians an opportunity to take a “fresh look” at Europe. This year’s edition is brainwork of the Delegation of the EU to Nigeria, the EU Member States, the current Danish Presidency of the EU, and the embassies of Switzerland and Serbia.
Recent and popular cinematographic works from Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Romania, Spain, The Netherlands, Sweden, Serbia and Switzerland will be screened during the festival.
Previous editions of the Festival were a great success in many ways and this year, more than 25 movies from different countries of Europe will be shown to a large audience on each occasion.
This year, the festival is being extended for the first time to Lagos, Port Harcourt, Kaduna and Jos.
