Nigeria’s President-elect, Retired General Muhammadu Buhari, on Sunday challenged Nigerians to spend the Easter season to forgive those who might have wronged them during the electioneering period and come together as brothers and sisters to rebuild Nigeria.
Drawing on the example of Jesus Christ, Buhari urged Nigerians to emulate the virtues of Jesus Christ, who made the supreme sacrifice to save mankind from sin and other man-made imperfections.
Buhari, in a statement issued on Sunday and signed by Dele Alake, Director of Communications, APC Campaign Organisation, said: “Nigeria needs all of us now to banish hunger, abolish poverty, demolish injustice and furnish our nation anew with uncommon patriotism and exemplary sacrifice.
“As we turn a new page in the history of our great nation, as we open a new chapter in the struggles of our people to create the social and economic conditions that will make possible equal opportunities for the children of the poor and rich; for the graduates from North, South, East and West, we need to bury the conflicts of the past so that we can cherish the harmony that our new democratic republic shall bring.”
The President-elect also enjoined all lovers of democracy in general and voters in particular to help shape a better and greater Nigeria with the votes that they will cast in the April 11 polls.
