The caretaker Chairman of Gwoza Local Government in Borno, Dr Jumba Ahmed, on Sunday denied an online media report that the Emir of Gwoza, , was killed by Boko Haram insurgents.

An online media outfit had last week claimed that the monarch was killed in an attack by the insurgents on Gwoza-Damboa road.

Ahmed, in a statement in Maiduguri, dismissed the report as false and misleading, stating that the royal father was hale and healthy.

“I wish to state without any fear of contradiction that the Emir of Gwoza is sound and healthy. He is effectively steering the affairs of his community as usual.”

“The Emir of Gwoza was never attacked or killed by suspected insurgents along Gwoza-Damboa road as alleged last week.”

“The entire story is false and misleading.”

He therefore advised journalists to always cross check their facts before publication.
