As the end of the year draws closer, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Road Traffic Services also known as VIO has commenced an intensive ember months campaign to ensure safety on the road in the nation’s capital.
Director of the Services, Alhaji Danjuma Aliu Garuba stated this at the weekend after the decoration of 584 officers and rank and files of the services who were recently promoted.
According to him, the Services have intensified enlightenment campaign on the need for motorists to put only road worthy vehicles on the road during the ember period and all the time.
“We are going to intensify our public enlightenment campaign and collaboration with other stakeholders to ensure that the ember months are free of road crashes.
We will intensify our enforcement and I advice FCT motorists to be law abiding by renewing their vehicles’ papers to avoid embarrassment ” he said
While addressing the promoted and decorated personnel of the Services, the VIO boss warned them to avoid cutting corners in carrying out their duties urging them to ensure that only road worthy vehicles are on the road.
He explained that the promotion was based on hard work, clean record saying ” to whom much is given much is expected. Our promoted staff must reciprocate the gesture by showing 100 percent loyalty to the Services”
“They must know that they have to work to reduce carnage on the roads and shun corruption” he added
