Ekiti Bars Stations In Residential Areas From Dispensing Petrol

Following Sunday’s fire outbreak at the Strive Energy Petrol Station, Ijigbo roundabout in the state capital, Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State, has barred outlets located within residential areas from further dispensing Premium Motor Spirit (petrol).

A statement on Sunday night by Lere Olayinka, the governor’s social media aide, said such “stations are to henceforth, sell diesel and kerosene only.”

Governor Fayose, according to the statement rushed to the scene of the fire outbreak and promptly mobilised men of the State Fire Service to put out the fire, describing “the incidence as unfortunate.”

He also promised “that government would take far reaching decisions to avert future recurrence.

“The fire incidence, which spread from the petrol station to the nearby Mugbagba areas of the town before it was put out destroyed properties worth millions of naira but no life was lost.”
