Ahead of the Saturday and December 5 governorship elections in Kogi and Bayelsa states respectively, the Democratic Peoples Congress (DPC) has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to be neutral, fair, and diligent in conducting the elections.
The party in a communique issued in Abuja on Thursday at the end of its National Working Committee (NWC) meeting said that INEC as an umpire in the elections must not only maintain its neutrality but also be seeing as fair and diligent during the polls.
The party in the communique which was signed by its National Chairman, Reverend Olusegun Peters also frowned at the current scarcity of petroleum products across the country and urged the Federal Government to take action in ensuring adequate supply of the petroleum products.
It urged the government to pay outstanding debt to petroleum marketers just as it advised that government should ensure that all the refineries in the country are functional and produce at maximum capacity to guarantee regular supply of the products.
The party called for sanctions against any petroleum marketer that hoards petroleum products.
On the agitation by the Biafran group, DPC enjoined the Federal Government to address the grievances of the pro-Biafran groups in the South East geo-political zone.
“For long, Ndigbo have complained of marginalization since the civil war ended in January 1970. NWC urge President Buhari to run an inclusive government, observe Federal Character principle in making appointments and provide infrastructure across the country irrespective of the people’s voting pattern in past elections.
