A group, Eye of Niger Delta (END) has called on President Mohammadu Buhari to ignore those sabotaging his development agenda and peace process in the Niger Delta region and continue with his good intension to the people of the region.
The leader of the group, Comrade Victor Tari Ben spoke yesterday when he led some members of his executives to post office in Port Harcourt
Ben who spoke angrily over the underdevelopment of the region said his group will soon name and protest against those sabotaging the region and the effort of the federal government to create a conducive environment.
He advised the Minister of State for Petroleum, Ibe Kachukwu, to be mindful of those presenting themselves as Niger Delta stakeholders for negotiation with avengers, adding that some of the people claiming to be representing the region are saboteurs.
The END leader who said his group has applied to be in the negotiating table, noted that the worst mistake the Federal government would make is to allow those who created avengers to be part of the negotiation.
Tari who recently led a protest against the attack on oil facilities in the region said he appreciates paln by the Federal government to dialogue with the Avengers if such peace move would solve the challenges facing the region.
He said his group is suggesting a lasting solution which is to drag the Federal government before the International Court where verdict and compensation would be awarded to the region over the injustice against the people and their environment.
Ben said: “As a group we welcome any peace process because without peace there will be no development. But will there be peace without equal right and justice. How genuine is the peace process with Avengers. Apart from the stakeholders in the region international community must be part of the negotiation.
“We are calling on President Mohammadu Buhari to continue his development agenda in the region and ignore those sabotaging his government’s effort in the region. They are not faceless, we know them and very soon we will disgrace them.
“Some of them created avengers today we saw them trying to be part of the negation table with their bags of personal interest. They never fought for the interest of the region but their selfish interest.
“Niger Deltas must think beyond using arms to solve our problem, nobody is talking of resource control again or derivation increase, what we are talking now is disarming and empowering militant groups which has nothing to do with the problem of the region.”
