Court sacks Governor Ikpeazu of Abia

Chris Steven, Abuja
The Federal High Court, Abuja has asked Governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu to vacate office with immediate effect.
Justice Okon Abang of the Court sitting gave the order on Monday.
The order followed allegation that Ikpeazu tendered false information to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to contest the governorship primaries in December 2014.
Uche Ogah, a major contender during the PDP primaries had approached the court to declare Okezie unqualified to secure the party’s nomination for alleged tax evasion.
He argued that the sacked governor did not pay his income tax between 2010 and 2011.
Also, the presiding Judge directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to immediately issue a Certificate of Return to the plaintiff, Uche Ogah.
It would be recalled that Ogah, polled the second highest number of votes in the PDP primaries.
