A Federal High Court in Lagos on Monday granted an interim order restraining the Federal Government from renaming the University of Lagos as Moshood Abiola University.
The court, in a ruling by Justice Stephen Adah, adjourned hearing till July 4, 2012.
Students and alumni of the institution had dragged government to court over the renaming of the school , as contained in President Goodluck Jonathan’s Democracy Day speech on May 29.
Before instituting the case, students of the 50-year-old institution ahd organsied three days of streets protests, blocking the busy Third Mainland Bridge on one occasion.
Justice Adah also advised the students and alumni to merge their suits into one.
