Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello has called on staff of the FCT Administration to change their attitude towards service delivery in line with the change mantra of the Federal Government.

The Minister made the call while receiving the Chairman of Joint Unions Action Committee, Comrade Titus Okoro, an umbrella organization for all affiliate unions under the FCT Administration in his office on Friday.

Malam Bello stated that his administration is poised to serve the people and therefore solicited for the support of officials of the unions as well as the entire staff of the FCT Administration to achieve this onerous task.

The Minister stressed that though the challenges are quite enormous but they are not insurmountable; saying “in serving the people, we must take care of their welfare and security”.

He assured that his Administration would do its best to promote the welfare of staff but within the context of the overall national policy.

His words: “I want to assure you that I will sincerely do my best for you but would also like to appeal for genuine support on the part of your members”.

Malam Bello appreciated the visit, which he said would improve the partnership, and thanked the staff for their patience and understanding so far.

Speaking earlier, the Chairman of the Joint Unions Action Committee, Comrade Titus Okoro, appealed to the Minister to look into the 100 percent payment of staff rent supplement in line with extant rules, as the amount now being paid is not sufficient to secure accommodation for staff of the Administration.

The Chairman also called for the resuscitation of the staff ‘Long Service Award’ to reward the uncommon sacrifices made towards building the befitting capital city, Abuja.

According to him, it is equally desirous to bring back the pre-retirement training for staff due for retirement.

The FCT Permanent Secretary, Dr. Babatope Ajakaiye and some senior officials of the FCT Administration also attended the meeting
