The Confederation of African Football via a statement on Sunday confirmed Chad’s withdrawal from he 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
CAF acknowledged receipt of Chad’s letter and subsequently cancelled all games and results involving the West Africa side.
The football ruling body invoked article 61 of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations guidelines to effect the changes.
“In conformity to article 61 of the regulations of the competition,any group reduced to three teams following a team withdrawal will only qualify the first team of that group,”CAF revealed through it’s official Twitter account (@CAF_Online).
“If a team withdraws from the qualifying phase organised in groups, all its results shall be annulled (points, scored and conceded goals).”
