President Muhammadu Buhari has directed that all military check points be dismantled forthwith across the country.
The President gave the directive on Tuesday during the weekly security council meeting which lasted for over three hours in his office at the State House.
He has also directed that policemen should man the check points where they exist.
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Defence, Aliyu Ismail who briefed State House correspondents said the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Kenneth Minimah is expected to carry out the order immediately.
Mr. Ismail also said Service Chiefs briefed the President on the efforts to move Command Centre to Maiduguri.
Following escalation of attacks by Boko Haram in some parts of the country including Abuja, military check points were mounted to contain the activities of the terrorists.
