It appears that the news of President Muhammadu Buhari’s improving health is not true as he was again conspicuously absent at Wednesday’s Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Wednesday’s FEC meeting was presided over by President Yemi Osinbajo following the President’s absence.
The President has been absent from the weekly FEC meeting for the four consecutive weeks.
On Tuesday, the President was reported to have been at the office, holding separate meetings with the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, as well as the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Maikanti Baru.
It was also reported early Wednesday that Buhari will preside over the FEC meeting, but that was not to be as the Vice President was the one who led the proceedings.
But his absence at key functions shortly after his return from medical vacation in United Kingdom has fuelled speculations about his state of health, but the presidency has dismissed reports about Buhari being critically ill.
Wife of the president, Aisha Buhari, on Tuesday spoke about her husband’s health for the first time since he ended his medical vacation, saying that his health condition was not as bad as perceived.
She thanked Nigerians for their support and urged for more prayers for the President.
