An attack on Kambari village 5 kilometers from Maiduguri by Boko Haram gunmen on Friday has claimed 15 lives including the village head.

Security sources say the entire village was set ablaze by the insurgents.

“After fruitless efforts to enter Maiduguri through Konduga without success, the terrorists took a different route and attacked Kambari,” he said.

A female survivor from Kambari, Kyallu said her four children were among the dead.

“They killed four of my grown-up children when they attacked our village about the time for the morning prayers

“They shot my children dead without any prompting. I had to leave the village with my grandchildren because we have lost our houses.

“The insurgents also killed our village head. In fact, I counted 15 dead bodies,” she said.

Boko Haram has been waging a violent campaign in the Northeast of Nigeria as it tries to carve out an Islamic caliphate.
