The ruling on a motion by Nigeria Agip Oil company, NAOC, seeking extension of time to appear properly in a suit filed against it by Arco Group Plc, has been adjourned to December 3.
Justice Lambo Akanbi of a Federal High Court, Port Harcourt, who adjourned the ruling on Monday had earlier expressed surprise that the two parties still appeared in court after his advice that they should explore means to resolve their differences outside the court room.
Arco Group Plc had, in a suit before the court, had requested NAOC to explain why it allegedly violated provisions of the Nigerian local content law.
Akanbi had again enjoined them to reach a settlement outside the court room.
“At the last adjourned date, I had advised the parties to go for settlement and then come back and withdraw the matter from the court”, he said.
