APC Accuses Wike of Misappropriating 5billion

Wike: Avail the public of facts

Paul Obiajunwo, Port Harcourt

The Rivers State chapter of All Progressive Congress (APC) has accused the governor of Rivers State Chief Ezenwo Nyesom Wike of misappropriating the sum of N5billion, accepting bribe from contractors and squandering billion of naira from contracts awarded to him without doing it when he was chief of state.

The party who spoke through its State Vice Chairman, Prince Peter Odike described the commission of inquiry as an act of illegality, adding that if Wike was serious to investigate Amaechi’s administration he should have started from the beginning.

Odike alleged that Wike who had served as a very powerful Chief of Staff under the former governor of Rivers State Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi committed several atrocities which he claimed was the main reason why the Rivers State governor was afraid to investigate those period.

He noted that Wike has not relented in his effort to bring his former boss down using the resources of the state but regretted that all his efforts to fight Amaechi has been a wasted venture

His word: “ The Rivers State government has no constitutional power setting up a commission of inquiry, if they want the commission to be effective it would have been set up by either the EFCC or ICPC but anything short of that is illegality.

“As long as I’m concerned that commission of inquiry is an illegal commission of inquiry, it has nothing to do with Amaechi or the past administration of Rivers State. It is an illegal commission of inquiry because you cannot be a judge to your own case,

“If there is a commission of inquiry it should have started right from the beginning of administration of Amaechi which Wike is also a part of it? He misappropriated the sum of N5billion, accepted bribe from contractors and squandering billion of naira from contracts awarded to him without doing it.”

Reacting on the allegation, the governor of Rivers State, Chief Ezenwo Nyesom Wike who spoke through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity Sir, Opunabo Inko-Tariah said APC should avail the public of the facts of their allegation.

Inko-Tariah said: “The histrionics will not produce any good result for the APC, why did they  ask President Buhari to probe beyond Jonathan’s administration, the issue of when and where to start is the prerogative of the governor”
