Accept Your Fate, Group Tells Sacked PDP NWC Members

Akande, Abuja

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mandate Group has told the former National Treasurer of the party, Hon. Bala Kaoje and other members of the National Working Committee (NWC), not to blame their resignation on the Minister of Niger Delta, Elder Godsday Orubebe and the Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah.

The former NWC members had last week Thursday following an alleged directive from the presidency.

Kaoje had over the weekend blamed his resignation and other members of the NWC on the Minister of Niger Delta and Minister of Aviation.

In a statement by the group, National Coordinator, Chief Felix Abunwa and Secretary General, Alhaji Jubril Saleh Umar, made available to newsmen on Sunday said that it was unfortunate to blame Orubebe and Oduah for the resignation of the eight members of the NWC and their deputies.

According to the PDP Mandate Group, “It is a constitutional provision and requirement of the PDP that for any National Treasurer, National Auditor, that the person must be a qualified accountant. To the best of our knowledge and based on the educational credentials deposed by the former National Treasurer, Bala Kaoje, he is a civil engineer and a builder. He is never a chartered accountant as specified by the party constitution.”

On the fate of others that resigned as members of the NWC, the PDP group said, “the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in its report said that the outcome of the election that produced the eight members of the NWC and their deputies is not acceptable to it as they were not democratically elected.

Sunday’s statement read in part: “How then is the Minister of Niger Delta, Elder Orubebe and the Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah are to be held responsible for their resignation. A spade must be called a spade at all times, without minding whose ox is gored. Must Orubebe and Oduah be blamed for any miscarriage of pregnancy in Nigeria, just to score a cheap political point?

“Ordinarily the former National Treasurer, Kaoje ought to have been charged for forgery because he deposed an affidavit that all the information, he provided in the PDP nomination forms to be correct, whereas, he knows very well that he is not a chartered accountant as contained in the constitution. Why crying blue murder when there is none.”
