About 600 people in Kpor community in Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State have benefited from European Union free medical scheme in the area.
The free medical scheme, a partnership project of EU and Search for Common Ground (SFCG) lasted for four days as to give more opportunity for the residents of Kpor community to benefits from the scheme.
The programme which took place at Kpor community Health Center attracted both old and young especially volunteered youths who were assisting EU to maintain orderliness and to control the crowed of persons who came for the programme.
The free medical scheme includes general test, treatments, administering of drugs and counseling.
Speaking on behalf of EU, Mrs. Shaya Poko, said: “The free Medical Scheme in Kpor community is one of the EU community projects called Tomorrow is a New Day. The whole idea is to assist the rural communities and make them to live happy and healthy among them.
“Kpor community was just lucky among the Ogoni communities, we are also going to take the programme to other rural communities after now but the ultimate goal is to achieve peace in Niger Delta communities.”
