3 Feared Dead, 21 Injured In New Gombe Suicide Blast

Reports says at least three people have been confirmed dead and 21 people injured after a female suicide bomber detonated a bomb in the Kasuwan Mata area of Gombe state.

According to witnesses, the explosion took place during the evening Muslim prayer, adding that most of those affected by the blast were Almajiris who throng the area in the evenings.

A girl had been seen loitering around the area before detonating her explosive belt.

Irate youths who were at the scene set the remains of the suspected suicide bomber ablaze.

“The explosion obviously targeted an (anti-Kalare) office which is used by the military in the area. The bomb went off not more than 100 metres from the office.”

The News Agency of Nigeria said personnel of the Nigerian Red Cross Society and other related personnel were at the Accident and Emergency Unit of the Specialists Hospital, Gombe, were seen at the scene of the incident attending to victims.
