Adesina Odeyemi, Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Education, on Tuesday said over 10,000 applications were received for transfer from private to public schools in the State in the current academic session.
In an interactive session with some parents and students who were in his office to inquire why the transfer request of their wards were not successful, he said until all renovation and reconstruction are completed in schools to make them conducive for learning, the government will not accommodate more students into any of its schools.
He told the visitors, led by Mrs. Ramota Shamsideen, that as a responsible and responsive government, the Akinwunmi Ambode administration is making efforts to make high quality education accessible to all children in the State.
Speaking earlier, Mrs. Shamsideen commended the State government for its efforts at providing infrastructure in public schools, as was evident in some schools they visited.
She implored the government to admit more students willing to transfer from private schools to the public schools in the next academic session.
